NEW DELHI: A decision on the Karnataka assembly polls is likely only after March 10, Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswamy said here on Monday.
"Only after publication of the final electoral rolls, a decision will be taken taken," he told when asked about the poll schedule in the southern state.
The draft electoral rolls was scheduled to be published by February seven and it would be finalised by March ten, the CEC said.
Asked whether elections in the state would be held as per the Delimitation Commission recommendations, the CEC said it all depended upon the Presidential notification.
Taking a serious view of "discrepancies", the full Commission, which had reviewed the poll preparations in the state last week, ordered revision of the draft electoral rolls and decided to delete 33.48 lakh names and add 9.27 lakh new ones.
Karnataka was brought under President's rule on November 29 and the elections are required to be held before May 28.
