Suhail Kapoor outguns Pune University’s Karan Singh

MUMBAI: Top seed Vikram Malhotra of Mumbai University blanked Karthik Sharma from Rajasthan University 3-0 to reach the quarter finals of the individual event in the All India Inter-University Squash Tournament, co-sponsored by Avon Cycles Ltd and organised by the Sports Council of H R College in association with the University of Mumbai, taking place at the CCI Courts on Monday.

All the top seeds won their individual first round matches. Fourth seed Suhail Kapoor (Delhi University) defeated Karan Singh (Punjab University) in straight sets, in fact only allowing him a single point in the second and third set.

The unfortunate Karan Singh proved absolutely no match for Suhail Kapoor and gave him an easy route to reach the quarterfinals.

Karan Singh managed to gain one point from his opponent but followed by conceding nine points in return, making the game a one-sided affair. He tried his level best to come back in the 2nd and 3rd sets with no success.

Suhail dominated the court from the very beginning of the match, and gave his opponent very little room to recover from defeat.

“After I missed out on the championship last year, this year I will give it my best shot,” said Suhail after the match.

Second seed Dhiraj Nagpal and third seed Siddharth Sharma also had easy outings as they sailed into the quarters after winning their matches in straight sets.
