BHOPAL: Underworld don Abu Salem would be produced before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in the fake passport case, as his week-long police remand ends on Tuesday.

"Salem would be produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ajay Srivastava, from where he is likely to be sent to Mumbai, where TADA court is hearing the don's alleged involvement in the 1993 Mumbai blasts," police sources said.

Salem was brought here from Mumbai on November 13 and was taken to the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate directly from Habibganj railway station.

The CJM, after hearing the plea had granted a week-long police custody of Salem so that complete interrogation with regard to his arrival in the city, his stay and other related issues can be completed.

However, police sources said that Salem has so far not revealed anything and has repeatedly denied his visit to Bhopal.

A special police team took Salem to several places in the city where he allegedly went and stayed after coming from Nepal, they said.

"Salem refused to recognise any of the places he was taken to, though some witnesses have recognised him saying he is the same person who made passports from here," police said.

Asked if the police would further seek extension of Salem's police remand, they said it was unlikely and he would probably be sent back to Mumbai.
