Successor conquers

MUMBAI: Hitting the front from the start, the colt from CD Katrak yard, Successor, bagged the Caesars Palace Juvenile debut Stakes, the feature event on the first day of the Mumbai Meeting, at the Mahalaxmi race course here on Sunday.

The horse is owned by Gautam Taper and Sultan Singh and trained by CD Katrak.

As the 14 horses got off the gates, Successor took the lead in this 1000 meter contest. Successor was well ahead of the rest as they negotiated the bend towards the home stretch.

The colt was closely followed by Kiara, the filly from yard of P Shroff’s. He was stretched in the last 100 meters before piping Kiara by a neck to win the day’s feature, the maiden race for the two-year-olds.

Successor, in the process enabled the Bangalore jockey KPG Appu to win the only race of the day. Three favourites obliged in a card of seven events.
