MUMBAI: The Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai police on Tuesday busted a major job racket that promised young aspirants jobs in leading hotels and international malls in Dubai.

EOW officials arrested two men, Shabbir Shaikh and Unnikrishnan Nair, for allegedly floating a bogus company in Nagpada and luring young aspirants, mostly from Andhra Pradesh. The two have been remanded in police custody till November 20. Police investigations revealed that nine aspirants were promised jobs abroad by the accused after charging up to Rs12 lakh each.

The aspirants got a rude shock when they found that their visas were bogus and their documents forged. Determined to get the guilty to book, they approached the police and registered a complaint. Investigations revealed that the accused were running the racket for the last two years.

“We’ve come to know the mastermind of the racket, Shehnaaz Bano, and launched a manhunt to nab her,” said a senior official.
