CBI to interrogate the don in forged passport case

MUMBAI: Gangster Abu Salem, presently in the Arthur Road jail, was taken to Bhopal by CBI on Monday in connection with a passport fraud. CBI wants him in a forged passport case. One case is registered in Bhopal and the other in Hyderabad against him.

Sources said Salem had obtained the passports to sneak out of the country twice. In the aftermath of the 1993 serial blasts Salem fled to Dubai. He later deserted Gulf for US and visited a couple of European countries before landing up in Portugal finally.
 
“Salem was taken to Bhopal by a special CBI team in heavy security. About 50-60 armed policemen escorted the don,” Salem’s lawyer Priyatosh Tiwari said. 

He has been charge-sheeted by the CBI in connection with the ‘93 serial blasts and by the Mumbai police in the murder of actor Manisha Koirala’s secretary Ajit Diwani. Presently he is tried in the Pardeep Jain murder case.
