PATNA: Two engineers and a senior khalasi of Mugalsarai railway junction were suspended on Sunday by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on the complaints of the passengers of Dehradun-Howrah express that there was no water in the compartments.

Prasad, who inspected the Patna railway junction, received complaints by the passengers of Dehradun-Howrah summer special that there was no water in the compartments from Haridwar railway station and no heed was paid to their requests to fill the tanks.

East Central Railway chief public relations officer A K Chandra said Prasad immediately put under suspension the senior section engineer, section engineer and senior khalasi of Mugalsarai railway station and sought explanations from Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of Lucknow, Mugalsarai and Allahabad as to why water was not filled despite the train crossing several "watering" stations.

Prasad asked the DRMs to fix responsibility and initiate strict action against the staff of 'watering' railway station for causing hardship to the passengers, Chandra said.
