AHMEDABAD:Dilip Vengsarkar was in his elements on Thursday. The chief selector, who is in the city for the ongoing Challenger Series for the NKP Salve Trophy, kept teasing anyone and everyone who came his way.

Arriving at the India Green team’s practice session at the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium in Motera, Vengsarkar took Piyush Chawla to task.

As soon as the young leggie saw the former India skipper approaching him, Chawla didn’t waste a minute to narrate his post-injury report.

“Sir, I don’t feel any pain and am enjoying my bowling,” the leggie said. To which Vengsarkar inquired, “Are you bowling over-arm or under-arm?”

Taken aback, Chawla had no option but to laugh and leave the scene without any further discussion.

Next in line was India Green captain Parthiv Patel.

Congratulating him on his recent batting performance, Vengsarkar asked, “Good going my boy. Getting a good support from the bat now?”

Parthiv had no answer to this and quickly left. Munaf Patel was next in the ‘firing line’ of the chief selector.

“You are bowling too many wide deliveries,” he told Munaf. Munaf, looking a bit embarrassed, desperately began looking for a way to escape.

Then came another beamer: “Improve your fielding.” “I am trying my best sir,” Munaf said, before making a quick retreat.
