MUMBAI: While Reliance Retail has already bagged the exclusive marketing and distribution deal for the product range offered by US-based Apple Computer Inc, including the launch of iStores in the country, Microsoft Corp chairman Bill Gates has decided to launch his world’s first shop-in-shop pilot (SIS) with Tata Group’s multi-brand consumer durables retailing brand Croma at Juhu in Mumbai.

Microsoft, along with the durables retail chain Croma (operated by Tata Group subsidiary Infiniti Retail Ltd), has launched its shop-in-shop brand One MS@Retail pilot.

According to Robert J Bach, president, Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division, the technology available at the store showcases Microsoft-connected homes that brings together music, movies and homes, thereby enriching and enhancing the lifestyle of consumers.

Ajit Joshi, CEO & MD, Infiniti Retail Ltd, did not give further details but said that the SIS pilot is certainly an exclusive arrangement with Croma.

“However, there is no binding for Microsoft to roll out the final version with others once the pilot gets approved. In fact, we would love to have the Microsoft SIS in each and every Croma stores we operate,” Joshi said.

Showcasing technology that will create homes where everyone is connected to everything, the basic XBOX solution at One MS@Retail SIS kiosk is being retailed at Rs 19,990-Rs 27,990.

Over and above the XBOX are other Microsoft solutions that help one to connect the camera to the Xbox and put up a show for the whole family, watch movies by connecting XBOX to LCD, as also convert PC to a gaming machine.
