NEW DELHI: Rallying against the Nehru-Gandhi families and Muslims has got Gujarat BJP president Purushottam Rupala in trouble with the Election Commission (EC).

The EC has also hauled up Congress general secretary for a foul-worded personal attack on chief minister Narendra Modi.

The EC has served show-cause notices on both the leaders seeking explanations by Friday as to why it should not initiate action against them for violating the model code of conduct in place for assembly elections.

Rupala had said at a public meeting on October 21, “… wherever there is a landing of RDX bombs, etc, police dogs point to Badruki Bharuch.”

He followed up with “…Rajivbhai, Phirozbhai... — it is OK till Phirozbhai – all those who call themselves hires to the Gandhi and Nehru legacy – never say where the generation line goes from Phirozbhai?

Congress leaders should announce their family tree. They are the progeny of the Muslims of Junagadh.”

Congress general secretary Hariprasad had said, “Gujarat ke bahar Narender Modi konse nali mein pada hai kisi ko nahin maloom hai, usko pata nahin uske baap ka naam kaya hai.”
