BIHAR: Accusing the Nitish Kumar led NDA government in Bihar of harbouring "vendetta" against adversaries, Railway minister Lalu Prasad on Wednesday said Union minister Mohammed Fatmi's name in an alleged plot to get a Darbhanga official murdered has proved it.

"The Nitish Kumar government has taken to witch-hunting to victimise adversaries. Fatmi being named in an alleged plot to get Darbhanga deputy mayor Badruzzaman Khan eliminated proves the charge," Prasad said.

Alleging a conspiracy to defame and demoralise Fatmi, Prasad said "the corporator, who was arrested has said his confessional statement against Fatmi was under duress."

He alleged that the Darbhanga superintendent of police 'pressurised' the corporator to name Fatmi in the case.

Union minister of state for Human Resources Mohammed Fatmi has been named in an alleged plot to get the deputy mayor murdered, but a corporator, Amanullah Khan Alhan who was arrested claimed that his ""confessional statement" was made under duress.

Police claimed that Alhan had confessed before an executive magistrate of taking a contract of Rupees five lakh allegedly from Fatmi for murdering the deputy mayor due to political rivalry.

Prasad was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for new rail line between Araria and Galgallia at Thakurganj in Kishanganj district.

He also laid the foundation stone for broadgauge conversion of rail lines between Aluabari Road and Siliguri.
