Oops! After all the hype about music maestro Pyarelal’s comeback into Bollywood music with a vintage 70’s song in ‘Om Shanti Om’, comes a bizarre discovery - the audio album of the film which was released on Tuesday evening highlights all the techno-music credits from arrangers, recordists, musicians, playback singers and lyricist for each song - and there’s no mention of Pyarelal at all!

For the record, Farah Khan and Vishal-Shekhar, the music composers for the film, had approached Pyarelal for an “authentic flavor of the 70’s”  to be infused into the special composition ‘Dhoom Taana’. The song has Deepika Padukone cavorting with yesteryear matinee idols.

When contacted, Farah Khan, known for her outspoken nature, acknowledged that was it is a genuine mistake on the printer’s part and would be rectified in the next batch. “Even I was horrified when I realised the omission,” she said. Even Vishal-Shekhar sounded rather embarrassed.

“For us Pyarelalji is an iconic musical legend and like our guru. In fact he has done us a favour by agreeing to compose the musical arrangements for this song using a live 145-piece orchestra, which is rarely done these days.

When we noticed this glaring lapse we took it up with the music company. Shekhar and I are planning to personally visit Pyareji’s residence at Bandra to apologise to him, ” says Vishal.

Meanwhile, the soft-spoken Pyarelal, who could not make it to the music release event as he was preoccupied, was modesty personified. “It’s okay with me if they have unwittingly omitted my name on the album.

Even otherwise, music lovers will surely identify the typical Laxmi-Pyare orchestration as soon they hear the ‘Dhoom Taana’ number. Vishal and Shekhar are like my sons.

Since both Farah and Shah Rukh were very keen that I should be involved with the music, I had consented. They have my good wishes,” says Pyarelal whose chartbuster number ‘Om Shanti Om’ from ‘Karz’ has inspired the title of Farah Khan’s SRK-starrer.
