Rajendran claimed he had painted different subjects in this manner for the past eight years. In 2003 he did a painting on then President A P J Abdul Kalam, which took 100 hours to complete. In 2005, he painted an image of the tsunami, a task which was finished in 51 hours.

Another painting on Abdul Kalam drawn with the full theme of Tamil treatise 'Tirukkural' in 2006 drew praise from Kalam himself and took 127 hours to draw, he said, adding that this feat had found him a place in the Guiness Book.

He said Chief Minister N Rangasamy would be among those who would greet him when he starts painting on October 19.
