MUMBAI: In the backdrop of speculation over the ties between the BJP and Shiv Sena, Sena leader Manohar Joshi on Saturday admitted there was 'strain' on the alliance.

"The situation on the alliance remains the same. The strain continues. I don't want to say anything more," Joshi said when asked about the ties between the allies.

"Sometimes the strain is more and sometimes it lessens," he added in a humorous vein.

Joshi also refused to comment on the Sena's stand on the nuclear deal with the US, saying, "It is a very important issue and the party is studying it. Balasaheb (party chief Bal Thackeray) will take a final decision on the issue."
