KARACHI: Draft of Pakistan Cricket Board's new constitution has been approved by President Pervez Musharraf, said PCB Chairman Naseem Ashraf.

"The President has given his approval to the new constitution and we are expecting a notification from his office in the next few days," said Ashraf, who was under pressure from various quarters to end the prevailing ad-hocism in the PCB and implements its new constitution.

Ashraf said the constitution would be implemented as soon as the notification of its approval is issued.

"We are fully committed to implementing the new constitution and I'm confident that it will be a great development for Pakistan cricket," he was quoted as saying by 'The New'.

The Board's previous constitution was suspended seven years back and since then national cricket has been run by different set-ups on an ad-hoc basis.

Ashraf said the new constitution would empower the regional associations and bring in more checks and balances in the system.

"There will be a governing board which will have decision-making powers. The board will help run the PCB in a more corporate and professional manner."
