BANGALORE: A plot to trigger explosions in Bangalore has been foiled with the arrest of a four-member gang, a top police official said on Friday.

A revolver, ten detonators, 20 gelatine sticks and some lethal weapons have been recovered from the gang, city police Commissioner, Neelam Achutha Rao said.

The gang confessed to police that they had plans to trigger explosions in some parts of the city, Rao said.

Police late Thursday night intercepted a car in which the gang members Asghar Pasha, Gilani, Umar and Mohammad Zaheer were travelling, the official said.

On checking their vehicle, police found explosive material and weapons.

Pasha had escaped from custody on June 30 when he was being brought here from Kolar jail for treatment, he said.

During interrogation, Pasha claimed that the gang was on his way to murder a rival gang member Divan Ali, he said.

Pasha has confessed that he has some links with naxalites, police said, adding, an investigation is on.
