LONDON: Prince Harry's girlfriend Chelsy Davy is planning to move to Britain from South Africa so that she can be closer to her royal love.

The 21-year-old Zimbawean-born blonde has reportedly applied to take a post-graduate degree at Leeds University in West Yorkshire, famous for its nightlife.

If her bid is successful, party-loving Chelsy would begin her studies at the end of next month and spend at least one year in the United Kingdom.

"Leeds will be perfect for Chelsy. She has been with Haz for three years now but they have never lived in the same continent, let alone country," one of her South African friends said.

"Chelsy has several friends at Leeds and it will be great for her to spend weekends with her man who is based in Windsor," the unnamed friend said.

Prince Harry's girlfriend had earlier showed her reluctance to move to the United Kingdom from Cape Town because of the cold weather despite his repeated demands that both should live in the same European nation.

"Chelsy really doesn't like the cold and wet of England. She would rather stay in Cape Town where it is beautiful all year round.

"But this is the only way she and Haz can move to the next level. They can't go on with the mother of all long-distance romances," her friend said.

Chelsy decided to continue her studies after performing well in the economics and politics degree she took at Cape Town University. She graduated in December but since then has spent most of her time travelling with brother Shaun.
