NASHIK: Four children were injured, two of them seriously, when a gelatin detonator they were ‘playing’ with exploded on Friday evening at a primary school in Teesgaon village in Dindori taluka.
All the four children, aged around 10 years, were students of standard IV at the Zilla Parishad primary school. The children attached a wire to the gelatin stick and joined its other end to a battery, unaware of what they were doing.
No sooner the circuit was complete, the detonator exploded, seriously injuring Roshan Bagul and Hrishikesh Gangurde. Two other children playing nearby, Amol Bhalerao and Vishal Bhalerao, were injured by the impact of the explosion.
Dr Zankar Atawane, RMO of Hrishikesh hospital where the injured have been admitted said that Hrishikesh’s two fingers had to be amputed while Rohan was hurt in the eye. The condition of both the children was said to be stable.
