Industrial production grows by 11%

NEW DELHI: Continuing growth in food products, manufacturing and electricity sectors have led to the index of industrial production rising 11 per cent in April-June period as against 10.5 per cent in the same period last fiscal.

As per the first quarter figures on industrial production released by Central Statistical Organisation (CSO) today, the electricity sector registered a growth of 8.3 per cent as against 5.3 per cent a year ago.

In June, the industrial production grew slightly to 9.8 per cent as against 9.7 per cent last year.

During April-June, the manufacturing sector posted a marginal growth of 11.9 per cent as compared to 11.7 per cent a year ago.

However, the growth in mining sector declined to 3.2 per cent as against 3.6 per cent during corresponding period last fiscal.
