Writer-director N. Chandra who was instrumental in Madhuri Dixit’s star-trek with ‘Tezaab’ has just completed the filming of ‘Breaking News’. As he is working on its finishing touches, he is also working on a sequel to his film ‘Tezaab’.

The serious movie-maker is peeved with media reports that he has been negotiating with Madhuri Dixit and Anil Kapoor for ‘Tezaab 2’. “Of course I would love to work with such competent actors like Madhuri and Anil. But I am not considering either of them because the audience will feel a déjà vu if they see the same faces in a sequel. My script requires the gen-next known actors,” insists Chandrashekhar Narvekar.

According to insiders, he was considering Vivek Oberoi and Kangana Ranaut for the sequel. But  he is reticent to disclose the cast, brushing it off with “Let me break the news after ‘Breaking News’ is released”, he quips.

Talking about ‘Breaking News’, Chandra shares that Matthew Boyd, the film’s cameraman from Hollywood was highly enamoured with the culture of Mumbai.  Chandra says, “Matthew was charged and excited while we shot at over 60 locations in Mumbai; that too, with his hi-tech Panvision camera, the kind which Steven Spielberg has been using.”

Chandra discloses that ‘Breaking News’ tackles multiple social issues. “It is my celluloid tribute to Mumbai city,” he shares adding, “‘Breaking News’ doesn’t have actors of the big league but has an ensemble of classy actors.”

Was it that the top stars played hard-to-get because they felt he belongs to the ‘old school’? “I wouldn’t deny that some young star-actors mistake me to be an ‘outdated director’. That is why I want to prove them wrong with my latest hi-tech contemporary movie,” adding, “I consciously avoided big stars, because it’s a character-driven film and we had to complete the non-stop shooting within 35 days. That is why I have cast actors like Atul Kulkarni, Anupam Kher, Rajpal Yadav and Sarika.”
