Apollo to set up medical unit at GMR's Hyd airport

MUMBAI: GMR Infrastructure on Thursday said it has chosen healthcare services provider Apollo Hospitals for setting up a medical centre at the new airport in Hyderabad, being developed by the company.
    
The company's subsidiary GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) has selected Apollo Hospitals for setting up a medical unit inside the passenger terminal building (PTB) of the international airport at Shamshabad in Hyderabad, GMR
Infrastructure said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
    
As per the agreement, Apollo Medical Centre would serve as an emergency treatment centre for passengers who may develop medical complications while on travel or within the airport premises.
    
Besides, it would also serve during crisis periods such as explosion and plane crash within the airport premises.
    
In addition to the passengers, the medical centre would also provide medicare to the airlines ground staff working at the airport, and conduct pre-flight medical tests for pilots
and crew members.
    
Apollo Hospital would set up the centre spread over 300 sq m in level B of the PTB and first aid kiosks in passenger restricted areas.
    
It would be a 17-bedded medical centre, having facilities such as ultrasound and ECG and 24 hour emergency dental services.
    
The medical centre would be well connected with main city hospital to be able to cater in case of any major criticality.     

The agreement also envisages Apollo Medical Centre to maintain at least four ambulances - two stationed at the airside and two others on the landside, the company added.
    
Shares of GMR Infrastructure closed at Rs 767.30, up 1.37 per cent on the BSE.
