Actor Sanjay Dutt’s heart almost missed a beat when Tada Judge PD Kode called out for accused number 117 after sentencing the four Memons on Friday.

As Dutt stood up in response, a hush settled in the courtroom. Within a minute, however, Judge Kode announced that the actor and three of his associates would have to come back on July 31. “I want to wrap up the case by the end of the month,” the judge said.

With the D-day being pushed to Tuesday, Dutt can enjoy a quiet 48th birthday on Sunday. When asked if he planned a celebration, he said, “I’m too old for that.”

But the countdown has begun for coming face to face with the punishment for an act committed 14 years ago. The tension is already showing as the actor is reported to be in an agitated state of mind since the last few days.

Now filming for Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Alibaug’, Dutt cancelled a few shoots this week, preferring to spend time with family and friends.

A close family friend of the Dutts told DNA that the actor was under severe stress due to the pending sentence. “The pressure is just too much.

He feels committed to his producers. But at the same time, there is this need to be surrounded by people he loves,” the source added. Dutt’s colleagues, however, insist that Dutt had been a true professional on the sets of ‘Alibaug’.
