NEW DELHI: It’s tough times ahead for DP Yadav, father of Vikas Yadav, who was charged for murder in the high-profile Nitish Katara case.
The Ghaziabad police have registered a case against the ‘strongman turned politician’ for allegedly trying to poison a key witness in his son’s case.
Senior officials suspect that the politician along with five more men had conspired to poison Ajay Katara, the key eyewitness who had seen Nitish alive with Vikas and Vishal on the Delhi-Hapur road, the night Nitish went missing.
“We have registered a case on the complaint of Ajay Katara in the Sahibabad police station. We suspect that DP Yadav was the main conspirator in the incident and had used five of his men to poison the witness,” said Deepak Ratan, the senior superintendent of police (Ghaziabad).
Ratan added that these five men had poisoned Ajay Katara on July 12, on the instructions of DP Yadav, when he had gone out in the evening with his two friends to have chat and ice cream.
We have not been able to arrest anyone so far but we are trying to trace these men. We are also investigating the kind of medical report that was made by the hospital where Ajay was admitted,” said Ratan.
Soon after being drugged, Ajay Katara had gone to the Pannalal Shyamlal hospital in Ghaziabad, where he was treated for almost 24-hours in the intensive care unit and later discharged.
On reaching the hospital, Ajay Katara had informed the doctors that he suspected of being poisoned, as he was feeling uneasy.
Nitish Katara was allegedly abducted and murdered by Vikas and Vishal Yadav in 2002 after the brothers came to know that Nitish was dating their sister Bharati Yadav.
