Sends out open letter clarifying position

CHANDIGARH: In a move to win support in and outside Punjab, the Dera Sacha Sauda on Friday released an open letter seeking suggestion from the people, particularly the Sikhs, to solve the ongoing crisis.

The unsigned letter seeks to clarify the Dera’s position vis-a-vis an allegation of blasphemy levelled against it by the Sikh high priests and says that though the alleged act of dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to emulate Guru Gobind Singh to baptise his followers was inadvertent, the dera has already sought an apology three times for it.

“Every time the apology was set aside on one or the other ground, as if the high priests were determined not to let peace prevail between the two sides,” the letter said.
