MUMBAI: Union Home Ministry and intelligence agencies, including RAW, have given clean chit to Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal regarding his alleged connection with the underworld, the Bombay High Court was informed on Thursday.

The court was hearing a PIL filed by Delhi-based journalist M Furqan, alleging Goyal had underworld links.

Asked by the court what was the Centre's stand on the issue, the government counsel said the Union Home Ministry and the intelligence agencies, RAW and IB, have cleared Goyal's name.

The court directed the Centre to file an affidavit in this regard by Friday.

Goyal said the Airways has special services for economy class passengers too like an entirely new advance ergonomic seat design that is capable of reclining to 130 degrees with a unique foot net to provide support for feet and ankles. The seats have individual reading lights - a worldwide first in economy class, he said.

The first class will have private suites for eight passengers, world's longest airline bed measuring more than two metres and 58 cm flat screen monitor. The airline plans to sell each first class seat between Rs 4,09,503 and Rs 6,04,311 plus taxes and surcharges.

Besides, eight first class suites, it will have 30 premiere class and 274 economy class seats.

The Airways said the new on-board entertainment system specially created by Panasonic includes games, 75 Hollywood and Bollywood movies and playlists from thousands of music titles.

The idea, Goyal said, is to ensure that Jet Airways is among the top five airline in the world by 2010.

"We have been working on these plans for more than two years. And having changed the way people fly in India, we would take to the world our very own brand of service and style that bespeaks the spirit of the new India," he added.
