Meerut Gang rape: Hospital license cancelled

MEERUT: A three-member inquiry panel has submitted its report on the alleged gang rape of a minor girl in the ICU of a leading private hospital here over the weekend and the district magistrate has ordered cancellation of its licence.

Police are also looking for Dr Ravi Prakash, the director of M Prakash Nursing Home where the 17-year-old was allegedly raped by two ward boys on the night of July 6, while her parents onTuesday demanded the arrest of two ICU doctors claiming that cameras were fitted there and its contents could reveal the truth.

Protesting the incident, a traders' body Samyukt Vyapar Sangh has given a call for a 'Meerut bandh' tomorrow and asked all shops and markets to down shutters.

District Magistrate Neeteshwar Kumar told reporters he has recommended to the Uttar Pradesh government announcingcompensation for the family in view of their financialcondition.

He has also ordered Chief Medical Officer S C Maheshwari to cancel the licence of the hospital.

He said the CMO, Chief Development Officer Roshan Jacob and Additional City Magistrate Kanchan Sharan had submitted the probe report in which the hospital director is accused of not cooperating and trying to "conceal the incident".

The report says the persons mentioned in the nurse registry were found not on duty on July 6 and the statements of the various staff were recorded during the inquiry.

Three ward boys have so far been arrested and sent tojail in connection with the gang rape.
