Man held for stabbing lover nine times

NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old man was arrested in west Delhi on Thursday for allegedly stabbing his lover with a scissor nine times after she refused to continue their relation, police said.

The accused, Rajkumar, who works in a garment factory, started chasing Mamta, 16, in Bindapur area in Janakpuri Thursday morning while she and a friend were going to a nearby house where she works as a domestic help.

According to the police, Rajkumar attacked the victim with a scissor all over, stabbing her nine times. She was taken to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital nearby, where she was reported to be recuperating.

The accused was arrested on the complaint of the victim's friend, Kanti Devi, 28, who was present during the incident.

"During interrogation, the accused revealed he was having a close relation with Mamta for the past one year. But when the girl refused to carry it further, they had heated arguments following which Rajkumar attacked her," a senior police official said.
