MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court has taken notice of a letter raising the issue of eviction of bar girls from Kisan Nagar area of Thane by Shiv Sena workers last month.

Janhit Manch, a city-based NGO, had written to the Chief Justice regarding eviction of hundreds of bar girls living as tenants in Kisan Nagar in first week of June.

The eviction drive was allegedy led by local Shiv Sena corporator Ram Repale.

As per the newspaper reports, Repale's justification for the drive was that prostitution was rampant in this area because of the bar girls.

The High Court has turned the letter into PIL which is likely to come up for hearing next week.
