TIRUCHIRAPPALLI: Chennai-based Aravind Laboratories, producing wide range of cosmetics, has garnered a turnover of Rs 24.50 crore in the years 2007-10, a top company official said on Thursday.

The current year turnover will surpass Rs.32 crores and the ambitious plan of the company was to clinch Rs.150 crore turnover before the year 2011-12, R Rajagopal, Managing Partner, said.

By the year 2010, the total turnover to be achieved by Kajal/Kum Kum should be around Rs.50 crores and the turnover in colour cosmetics should be close to Rs.100 crore, he said.

The current market spread was in 17 States and Union Terriories with about 720 stockist and over 1,00,000 outlets serviced by 180 Marketing personnel chartered by the company at all levels.

On market expansion, he said in the current year Haryana, West Bengal, Bihar and the North Eastern states would be included in the company's market ambit and by the year 2008-09 the total number of stockist would go up to one thousand.

Besides the manufacturing facility located at Ramapuram in Chennai (50,000 sq.ft of carpet area), the company was planning to put up a state-of-the-art production centre in another location in the city at an outlay of Rs.4 crores.

On new products planned in the current year, he said premium quality nail polish would be launched nationwide commencing from Mumbai. The laboratories is also developing Talcum powder, fairness creams etc. in its in house R&D wing and most ingredients used for nail polish are imported from US. But the technical know-how was still indigenous. The company's popular brand is Eyetex.
