MANGALORE: A missing sailor from an Eritrean cargo vessel that capsized at Thannirbhavi near here two days ago is yet to be traced despite a massive rescue operation mounted by the Coast Guard.
"Efforts are still on to spot the missing crew member," Dakshina Kannada's Superintendent of Police B Dayanand told PTI here on Sunday.
Another cause for worry for authorities is the leakage of fuel and furnace slag from the ship MV Den Den. Officials of the Karantaka State Pollution Control Board have been alerted to plug the leakage.
Two members of the 24-strong crew of the vessel died after it sank at a spot about 13 km from here while 21 were rescued.
The crew members who were rescued are recovering in local hospitals, Dayanand said.
