NEW DELHI: UPA-Left nominee Pratibha Patil on Saturday said she will resign as Rajasthan Governor before she files her nomination in the President's election.
She told reporters that a decision on when she would file her nomination would be taken on Saturday night.
Patil, the surprise nominee of the ruling alliance who arrived here on Saturday, said she would also meet Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, who is likely to be her opponent as an independent backed by the NDA in the July 19 election. It would be a courtesy call, she said.
Before filing the nomination she would pay obeisance at the Rajghat, the samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi.
