MUMBAI: Software Technology giant IBM Global Business Services has partnered with Delhi International Airport (P) Ltd (DIAL) for managing the escalating air traffic at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi.

"We needed a system that integrated all of our back-end systems and put us in a better position to cater to end user requirements for now and the future, and we are happy that IBM has been able to come up with a tailor-made solution for us," DIAL General Manager (IT) Pankaj Sahni said.

IBM would implement an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system at IGIA that would integrate all data and processes of the organisation into a unified system.

"The ERP implementation at DIAL is set to take place over a two-year period and is in line with the airport's modernisation efforts to address the growth in aircraft and passenger traffic," GMR Infrastructure Ltd, the parent company of DIAL, said in a communique to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday.

The solution would cover the airport's accounting, aviation/non-aviation related billing, customer relationship management, maintenance, real estate and related data warehouse functions.

Further, it said that an important part of the programme includes strong change in management skills to help the staff at IGIA drive more efficient operations and deliver better service to users of the airport.

IBM has also been contracted for a three-year Application Management Services arrangement to provide end-user help desk and support.
