SULTANPUR: Two Samajwadi Party supporters were killed in a clash with Bahujan Samaj Party activists in a village in Sultanpur district on Sunday.

Tension ran high in Semrauni village, where the clash erupted, prompting district administration to deploy more police to maintain law and order.

The two SP supporters killed were brothers, police said.

Rivalry relating to the recent assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh was believed to be the reason behind the clash.

The village falls under Isauli Vidha Sabha constituency from where Samajwadi Party's Sonu Singh had emerged victorious.
