NEW DELHI: Mayawati may have threatened to send Amar Singh to jail, but the latter on Monday said he will not flee the country and is ready to face whatever comes his way.
The SP general secretary was scotching reports that he had gone ‘underground’ on the eve of Mayawati assuming office in UP, a few hours before he was admitted to a private hospital.
Sources close to Singh said he is undergoing a medical check-up due to kidney complications. Before getting admitted to the hospital, Singh in an interview to a private TV channel dared the new UP CM to send him and his party boss Mulayam Singh Yadav to jail. Putting up a brave front in the wake of his party’s poll rout, Singh said the “real defeat in UP was not of SP but of Sonia-Rahul combine and the BJP.”
Even as rumours are on about the authenticity of his illness, Singh told the interviewer that Mayawati is practicing political vendetta. “I will feel very happy if I am sent to jail. Jail is a very nice place. Mayawati will do a good service by sending me there,” he said.
