Keerti on romancing husband Sharad Kelkar and planning a long due break.

How is it playing a negative role in ‘Saat Phere’ (Zee)?

It’s good fun. Playing goody-goody can get boring at times. Though Chandni, my character, is negative she has a definite reason to be so. She believes that her father was ruined and her twin sister died because of this particular family.

How is it to have your husband Sharad Kelkar as your co-star in the show?

It’s said that one must not mix work with pleasure. But I contradict that. Since I have my spouse with me, it does not get tiring. We spend our free moments together. There are other couples including Sai Deodhar and Shakti Anand (‘Ek Ladki Anjaani Si’) and Gauri Pradhan-Hiten Tejwani (‘Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) who are doing the same. Working with my hubby brings a breath of fresh air in the routine.

Then, you must have enjoyed the ‘Nach Baliye’ experience.

No! It was not a good experience at all. We are celebrities. You you cannot be rude to us in front of the public, which holds us in esteem. We would rehearse at night and work during the day. Yet, we were criticised harshly. I even wept on the show twice, which was again captured on camera for public viewing. We received rough treatment.

Has marriage been the best thing for you?

Yes! I recommend marriage to all. I had heard about marriages being made in heaven. It’s definitely true in our case. Sharad is calm and an understanding guy as much as he is naughty. After a tiff, I can patao him in 15 minutes while it takes him at least three hours to manao me. We still behave as girlfriend-boyfriend. Since our marriage, he hasn’t allowed me to stay back at my parents’ place even once. He promptly comes to pick me up at night.

Would you like to change anything about him?

His sleeping habits. He can fall off to sleep in an instant while I like to chat. Also, he spends most of his time with the play station or TV. I wish I could do away with that.

What are your future plans?

Once I am done with my track in ‘Saat Phere’, I hope to take a long break. I have been working non-stop for the past seven years. I want to catch up on some swimming and yoga. I want to rejuvenate before I get back to work again.
