INDORE: A private plane with at least 10 people on board skidded off the runway at the airport here and slammed into a boundary wall, an airport official said on Tuesday.

The aircraft belonging to Mumbai-based Essar Aviation Company veered off the runway on Monday, airport Director RK Singh said.

All people on board were safe and a three-member team from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has begun a probe into the mishap.

The aircraft, coming here from Mumbai, landed safely and was heading towards a parking bay when it skidded off the runway, he said.

"The probe will reveal whether the accident was casued by pilot error, equipment failure or bad weather," he said.

Asked about the exact number of passengers on the plane, Singh said it was a chartered flight and only the private company would be in a position to give the count.

The plane is still stuck at the site and the company is making arrangements to pull it back on to the runway, he said.
