WASHINGTON: A prominent Indian-American child psychiatrist has been named in an independent panel constituted by the Virginia Governor to probe the circumstances of the bloodiest campus shooting in the US which claimed 33 lives last week.

Governor Timothy Kaine on Sunday named the final two members of the panel, judge Diane Strickland and Carroll Ann Ellis, who has been the Director of the Victim's Services Division of the Fairfax County's Police Department.

Noted child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr Aradhana A 'Bela' Sood is among the other six members, whose names were announced earlier on April 19.

The panel would look into every aspect of the tragedy that hit Virginia Tech University campus last Monday when a lone student gunman killed 32 people before turning the gun on himself.

A graduate of Gojra Raja Medical College in India, Dr Sood is with the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Virginia Treatment Center for Children. She has had a residency at the University of Missouri and a Fellowship at the Ohio State
University.

Dr Sood's clinical specialities are attention deficit disorder in children, adolescents and adults, depression, bereavement and grief and psychopharmacology (study of drugs that affect the mind) in children and adolescents.

Headed by retired Virginia State Police Superintendent Gerald Massengill, the panel also has former US Homeland Security Secretary and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge.
