Strongly denying the allegations, the Tata Hospital said such an incident could have never taken place at the operation theatre.

Chief PRO SH Jafferey said, “We are open to any investigations done by police and appropriate action will be taken if any employee is found guilty in the case. The allegations, we believe, are false as no operation theatre or any part of it is isolated leaving very little chance for such incidents. All the 16 operation theatres comprise at least 10 members from hospital.” The hospital authorities also said the hospital would conduct DNA tests of all the employees present at the time of operation.

Chief Administrative Officer T Ambumani said he had no information regarding the identity of the accused. “Once we come to know about the identity of the culprits, we are definitely going to take action against them. The guilty won’t be spared,” said Ambumani.

Earlier at a hurriedly convened press conference, hospital director KA Dinshaw said, “We do not believe that a rape can occur on our premises as none of the patients are left unattended. At no point during her treatment was the patient left alone. The girl alleges that she was raped on November 20. According to our records, she is 26 weeks pregnant, with the child conceived in the third or fourth week of October.”
