Body of a 25-year-old unidentified woman was found in the bushes close to IIT Powai on Wednesday morning. According to the police, the lady sustained multiple stab wounds and was brutally murdered.

The local police received a call from the control room at around 6.45 am about a dead body sighting near the Chand Sawli Dargah. “The victim was wearing a black salwar and brown kurta. She appeared to be from a decent middle-class family.

Examination revealed that her neck had been slit. She also had four stab wounds on the abdomen and two below it,” said investigating officer and police inspector Bharat Deshmukh from Powai police station. “Only the post-mortem report will clarify whether she was raped,” PI Deshmukh added.

The body was sent to Rajawadi Hospital for post-mortem. The police suspect that the woman was murdered because of a fallout with her lover. “There are two possibilities we are working on. The lady was first killed somewhere and later thrown into the bushes or it is a result of a love affair,” said a police official.
