LONDON: Pakistan media manager Pervez Mir has asserted that the side has nothing to do with match-fixing and also refuted reports of a spat in the team bus after the defeat against Ireland.

Stoutly defending the players in the wake of Jamaican police having a clear look on whether match-fixing played any part in Woolmer's murder, Mir said, "All I can say is this current Pakistan team has nothing to do with match-fixing."

Asked about former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan's allegation that spot-fixing has been prevalent in the game, Mir said, "I cannot comment on what Shaharyar has said."

He vehemently dismissed media reports about a spat in the team bus after Ireland knocked them out of the World Cup.

"Nothing at all happened in the bus. And if there was rift, it's part of life. Why make a big issue of it? There are always rift which are continuing between teams, players and captain and players. There is nothing new about it," Mir said.

Asked about the questioning of players by the Jamaican Police, Mir said, "It was given to all. All were same questions and everybody filled out. 'When was the last time you saw him?', 'Did he come for breakfast, lunch, dinner?' There was nothing intrusive or criminal minded question.

"Police were trying to form a picture, that is the point of investigation," said Mir.
