PANAJI: In a vicious attack on the Indian cricket team and its coach Greg Chappell, BCCI Vice President Dayanand Narvekar on Monday described the World Cup squad as "most indisciplined" and "on an enjoyment spree".

He also demanding sacking of Chappell for the ignominious first round exit in the mega event.

Goa Cricket Association President Narvekar said he had told the other Working Committee members of the Board that the team would not make it to the semi finals at the all-powerful panel's last meeting.

"While on the West Indies tour in April 2006, I have seen these boys loitering around till one o'clock in the night, smoking cigarettes," the GCA chief said.

"During the last Working Committee meeting I had said this team can't go up to the semi-finals in the World Cup. People in the Board had high hopes and I was the only fellow who said that this is not going to happen," he said.

Holding Chappell responsible for the team's disastrous campaign in the West Indies where it lost its preliminary group ties to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, Narvekar demanded the former Australian captain's ouster.

"India does not need a coach who could not deliver results," he said.

The BCCI has called a meeting of its Working Committee here on April 7, a day after its office bearers have a discussion on the future of Indian cricket with four or five former captains of recent vintage and Narvekar is expected to attend the meeting.

Navrekar said Indian players were on an "enjoyment spree" as they earned a lot through advertisements.

"I think that is a drawback of our team," Narvekar said.

Referring to the players' demand for a 27 per cent share in the Board's revenue, Narvekar said "They should be asked to shell out certain percentage of money earned through advertisements before considering their demand with the Board."

"It's not that Sachin is a handsome fellow like film star that he gets advertisements. He is worshipped because he is a cricketer and same thing happens to other cricketers," Narvekar said.

"They should pay the board or stop taking up advertisements," he said.

Insisting on a revamp of the team, Narvekar said non-performing players should retire before the Board or people throw them out.

"Whole psyche of team is not good in the sense that they feel their places in the team are fixed. This is bad thing," he added.

Narvekar said if Bangladesh could produce wonders with 18-year-old boys, India too can do wonders as India has such a huge pool of resources.
