VARANASI: Anguished cricket fans in the temple city on Saturday mourned India's exit from the World Cup by taking out mock funeral procession of the team and burning
effigies and posters of Rahul Dravid's men.

Unable to digest the virtual crashing out of much-touted Indian team from the quadrennial event, staged protest near Mazda cinema hall in Sigra, Assi Ghat and other parts of the city.

They also shouted slogans against the team India members for their "spineless performance" in the tournament.

Another group of protesters also took out a mock funeral procession of the national team and immersed it at Dashaswamedh ghat in the river Ganga.
