Curfew was imposed on Saturday in Mendhar town of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir following clashes between two groups over an "illegal" structure.

POONCH: Indefinite curfew was imposed by the district administration of Poonch in the border town of Mendhar in Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday following clashes between members of the Hindu and Muslim communities over land at a religious place.
A section of Hindus were protesting against the alleged forcible occupation of their land by Muslims.
Official sources said police had to use teargas shells to disperse the clashing groups in Mendhar, around 200 km from here and clamped the curfew this morning.
''The indefinite curfew would continue till the situation is eased,'' an official said phone adding that extra police force had been deployed in the town.
