Fans stone Zaheer Khan's restaurant; family denies

PUNE: Agitated over Indian team's loss to Sri Lanka in a World Cup fixture, a group of cricket fans gave vent to their anger by pelting stones at the restaurant of bowling spearhead Zaheer Khan here early this morning.

Police said some unidentified men hurled stones at ZK's, a popular restaurant in Lulla Nagar under the juridiction of Wanworie police station, soon after India crashed to a 69-run defeat against Sri Lanka.

No major damage was caused in the stone-pelting to the restaurant. Only a few glass panes were broken, the police said, adding that security has been tightened in the area after the incident.

However, Anish Khan, the Indian cricketer's brother who looks after the restaurant, denied any such incident.
