PORT OF SPAIN (TRINIDAD): The Indian cricket team has expressed shock and grief at the sudden death of Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer.

"Captain Rahul Dravid, coach Greg Chappell and team members of the Indian team are deeply shocked and saddened by untimely death of Bob Woolmer who had a distinguished career in cricket as a player and coach for England, South Africa and Pakistan," the team said in statement here on Monday.

"He has left an indeliable mark on the game that he loved and lived for. We extend our heartfelt smypathy to Bob's family, friends and all members of Pakistan team at this sad time."

Woolmer died on Sunday in Kingston, Jamaica, where the Pakistan team was playing its first round group matches.

The former England batsman was declared dead by doctors in a local hospital where he was rushed to in the morning after being found unconscious in his hotel room.

His death came a day after Pakistan was eliminated from the World Cup following their stunning defeat to Ireland.
