MUMBAI: New York-based Cedar Management Consulting International LLC, run by management consultant Sanjiv Anand, has acquired Chicago-based Technomic International as part of its long-term objective to expand its North American management consulting practice.

With its heritage dating back to Technomic Consultants (founded 1966), and subsequently being part of Renaissance Worldwide, Technomic International over the years has assisted over 600 clients in the development of market/business strategy in the US and international markets. Technomic’s clients have included 3M, Abbott, Alcoa, BP, Carlyle Group, ExxonMobil, IBM.

Cedar, a management consulting firm with 500 professionals, has network offices across 15 countries. It assists clients in the areas of strategy, process, strategic HR and IT. According to Sanjiv Anand  (pictured), managing director, Cedar, besides investing in growing Technomic’s core area of expertise, the company would bring its expertise in the area of strategy formulation and deployment using its propriety systems and methodologies.

In addition, Cedar is seeking to play an increasing role in cross-border transactions between the US and India. Since 1991, Cedars has facilitated over $500 million of foreign direct investment in India for clients like Whirlpool and Emerson Electric. Anand says Cedar would also assist India firms in their U.S acquisitions and alliances. A large percentage of clients acquired as part of this transaction are in the industrial and pharmaceutical space, primary targets for Indian firms seeking to expand in the US market.
