Congress charges BJP ministers with sheltering criminals

Congress in Rajasthan alleged that two of the ruling BJP's ministers R N Dudi and P S Singhvi were sheltering criminals in two cases reported recently.

JAIPUR: Amid uproar in the House, the Opposition Congress in Rajasthan on Monday alleged that two of the ruling BJP's ministers R N Dudi (Revenue) and P S Singhvi
(Civic) were sheltering criminals in two different cases reported recently.

Despite the ruling ministers and BJP MLAs' defence, Congress MLA Sanyam Lodha charged that Dudi protected the criminals in a case in which Banshidhar Purohit, an employee with Pipar Nagarpalika who committed suicide on March 7 following harassment by the local BJP workers and leaders.

Lodha said deceased Purohit, who was awarded with the President's certificate during the B S Shekhawat government, had left a suicide note blaming two BJP functionaries of Pipar, and the revenue minister had extended support to the criminals who were at large.

Interrupting the acrimony, Home Minister G C Kataria tried to pacify, the tension that the Inspector-General (Jodhpur range) was asked to probe the case, the Leader of
Opposition (Congress) R N Choudhary said how could an IG-police probe the charges levelled against the minister and it should be conducted by the competent authority.

The ruling and opposition members traded serious charge on the matter even as the revenue minister Dudi told the House that he was ready to face any probe and if found guilty he would follow the orders.

On a similar allegation, another Congress MLA Harimohan Sharma said Civic Minister Singhvi protected husband of Chabra civic body chairperson and other party workers who indulged in a clash after a road mishap during holdi festival.

Home Minister Kataria told the House that the two cases were registered and six persons were arrested in this connection but the Opposition did not stop accusations.

Earlier on his starred question, Lodha blamed Revenue Minister Dudi for allocating a land to sone of a BJP MLA in Jaisalmer by flouting norms. Though Dudi tried to reply in the House, Speaker Sumitra Singh objected asking the minister why the land was allotted when there was some indiscrepency in the rules.

On another starred question related to untimely deaths of over 1000 cows at Kota go-shala, the Congress grilled Civil Minister Singhvi for not providing better amenities and
fodder to cattle in go-shalas. However, Singhvi defended the opposition charges saying a grant of Rs.31.34 lakh was being spent on Kota go-shala in the current fiscal year.

Question hour witnessed uproar as independent MLA Hemraj Meena alleged that there was a large scale corruption in installation of tube wells in the Saharia tribal belt of
Rajasthan.

Minister-in charge G C Kataria assured the House that an enquiry would be set up to verfy the payment made to the contractors on accound of 38-tube wells set up in the tribal belt without any testimony.

Another Congress MLA Babu Lal Nagar staged a walkout from the House when he was not allowed by the speaker to raise the demand of Beesalput dam's water pipelines belonging to his constituency.
