The Liz-Arun vivaah!

Tales from the locker room

Let’s look at our India. Insurgency is still a problem. Secessionist forces are a threat through the length and breadth of this glorious country. Over-spending on defence and nuclear proliferation looms large over us. Inflation threatens to run rampant. Epidemics, as diverse as dysentery and HIV AIDS, are also chewing at the bit. Communal and caste politics is ready to explode in our faces at the drop of a festival.

Yet, against this bleak backdrop the country is ready to embrace its greatest moment, its finest act, its showpiece event that makes us all proud to be Indians. We can now hold our heads high again in triumph thanks to the Arun Nayar and Elizabeth Hurley wedding.

For more on the most significant event in North India since the first battle of Panipat, let’s talk to our resident expert historian who is also a horticulturist by profession specialising in floral arrangements for funerals with excessive use of the Bougainville—Mr Thribhovandas P Anklesaria.

Here’s what Thribhobhai has to say:

This is arguably the greatest day for any Indian. Arun Nayar is also probably the greatest Indians of all times. Amongst his myriad glorious achievement a few stand out the strongest:

  • He’s half-Indian.
  • He’s a human being.
  • He’s a male.
  • He knows how to swim the back stroke.
  • He’s unknown to most Indians who happen to be both human and male.

Elizabeth is, of course, one of the world’s most beautiful women and has been the star of the finest motion picture of all times ‘Bedazzled’, where she played a character in a very tight black suit. Though she may not have done any films for the past 10 or 15 years, you still can’t deny her body of work or her body especially in that tiny black suit.

Together these two visionaries have propelled our world forward, shaping our society’s course. May they have many children along with the many pigs and monkeys they’ve requested for their farm. Cheers to the couple and Jai Hind!

I don’t know about you, but I just can’t wait for my invitation.
