MUMBAI: The Mumbai Mayor will be elected on March 10. According to sources, the election for the post will be held on Saturday and the nominations for the same will be filed on Tuesday.

In the house of 227, Shiv Sena-BJP alliance is very close to simple majority. Mayor's post will go to Shiv Sena, the Deputy Mayor will be of BJP.

This time the Mayor's post is reserved for women and for the first time, the Mayor will be elected by raising the hands and not by secret ballot.
The entire voting process will be video-recorded, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) sources said.

The partywise strength in BMC is as follows: Shiv Sena 83, BJP 28, Congress 71, NCP 14, SP eight, MNS seven, RPI two, ABS two, BSP one, and Ind Nine.

The present strength of the house is 226. A newly elected Sena corporator was murdered recently.
