Ricky Martin’s Indian wedding!

DJ Aqeel has arranged for the Latin pop star to perform at a high profile shaadi in Jaipur

It’s truly the season to disco, as not just our page 3 celebs, but also the lesser known Indian ‘Richie Riches’ are doling out the moolah to rope in big names to perform at their private dos. The latest in the line of star attractions is Latin pop singer Ricky Martin, who is scheduled to perform in Jaipur early next month at an Indian wedding function.

“Yes, Aqeel (Ali) has arranged this for a friend of his,” is all the DJ’s wife, jewellery designer Farah Khan is willing to reveal at the moment.

Just back from Davos, where Aqeel had the likes of the Mittals, Godrejs and Ambanis, besides other international business tycoons dancing to his tunes for a second year in a row, Farah says the experience was fantastic.

“It’s great to be an Indian there. In fact, the perception is wherever we Indians go, a rockin’ party is sure to follow!” she says, revealing that the couple has been invited to the World Economic Forum next year too.

They also partied with Chad Hurley, who sold ‘You Tube’ to Google for six billion dollars. “I didn’t know he was like the next Bill Gates at the time, but he is a really cool guy,” she informs. 

However, even more interesting is the bash Aqeel played at in Egypt, just outside the pyramids and the sphinx. “It was amazing to party outside one of the world’s wonders!” And that’s not all — the year ahead will see the DJ perform at several exclusive events in places like Vienna, Istanbul and Greece. Did someone just ask where’s the party!
